I have to admit this to you. Over the last few days, I’ve been doing all kinds of internet “show me a signal bar” dances. Working from the remote, deep woods of Oregon this week has brought its challenges. So, being here with you today is definitely my big WIN for the week! Running a business can sure take us for a RIDE (up, down, sideways, backwards). We’ve got to count more of things that go right than go wrong. Something that definitely counts as a big win is getting your product line into another shop. Or getting it into your first retailer! Do a little dance. But what if it’s on consignment terms? If you are a young brand or are bringing a completely new concept to the market, it’s very likely that a retailer will ask to carry you on consignment. Unfortunately, if not managed well from the start, this type of arrangement can leave a brand feeling anxious and uncertain about their fate.
